How to DeClutter and DeepClean Your Phone

These tips are for you if you received a new phone for Christmas and want to keep it organized, or if you vowed to to organize your smart phone but found your phone isn't looking as snazzy as it did when you first pulled it out of the box. From the inside out, here's how to clean and organize your phone:

Offload unused items.

Smartphone sluggishness is a real thing. And if you've amassed a large amount of digital clutter on your laptop, there's a quick solution. Remove it! Take a minute to go through your phone and delete any apps that perform the same purpose or that you felt looked cool but never used.
Uninstalling useless applications can free up space on your phone and might even speed it up. Check your messages for old videos and photos that are taking up space in your storage, and delete them, especially in outgoing messages. Duplicates of photos you've sent to friends and family are normally kept somewhere on your device, so get rid of those that are taking up valuable memory.
To uninstall an app from an Android device, follow these steps: Tap and hold the app you want to wipe, then drag it to the top of the screen to the ‘Uninstall' prompt and lower it.
To delete an app on an iPhone smartphone, hold down the home button while tapping and holding the app you want to delete until a screen appears. Then press 'Add App,' then 'Delete App.' On older iOS versions, you'll have to tap and hold the screen until the apps begin to wiggle, then click the ‘X' in the corner of the app you want to uninstall.

Back up your phone data.

You don't want to lose precious memories in the process of speeding up your phone and getting rid of clutter. Before you start cleaning things out, use the iCloud or Google Photos platforms to back up images, videos, and other items you want to keep safe in the cloud. Step-by-step directions can be found on our other blog for iPhone data backup.

Organize your applications

If finding the application you're searching for takes an eternity, it's time to arrange your applications. It should be a lot less intimidating to find out how to arrange your phone screen once you've deleted all of the unused settings.
Consider putting the most-used apps (like your camera, texting, and calls) on one screen and organizing the rest of your apps into folders based on their use. Games can be grouped together in a neat folder, and photo editing apps can be grouped together.
But be smart about it, and don't hide your most-used app four pages deep in a folder full of them. You don't want to give up and let the smart phone become cluttered once more. Choose a device that fits your needs. Even, don't be afraid to think beyond the cage!

Clear your caches.

It's past time to update your internet connection. After all, no matter what phone you use, if you don't clear your caches or files, you're wasting storage space.
To clear the cache on an Android device, follow these steps: To begin, go to your browser and open it. Navigate to Menu > Settings > Privacy & Security in the Android browser. (Alternatively, you would have to go to Menu > More > Settings.)
Tap Clear Browsing Data if you're using the Chrome browser. Clear your browsing history, cache, and cookies by leaving the default options checked. Clear the screen.
To clear the cache on an iPhone smartphone, follow these steps: From the home screen, go to Settings > Safari. You'll find a Clear History & Website Data option near the bottom of the Safari settings screen. To confirm, tap it, then tap Clear History & Data.

Clean your screen.

You can disinfect your phone screen almost as much as you wash your hands to prevent germs from spreading– and in many of the same circumstances. It's a good idea to thoroughly disinfect your computer (and your hands) after using your phone in a public bathroom, while standing on a bus, or after doing a few push-ups on the sidewalk.
To properly deep-clean a screen, you'll need to remove your phone case first.
Then, use a gentle disposable cleaner, such as Clorox disinfecting wipes, to wipe down your phone and case thoroughly.
You can also clean your device with a small amount of 70% isopropyl on a towel; just make sure to use it sparingly. Wipe down both sides of your phone, paying careful attention to the screen. Before putting your phone back in its case, clean it inside and out and dry it completely with a microfiber cloth.
